- Standard Chartered now offers direct bitcoin and ether trading to affluent UAE clients.
- The bank holds and settles the coins itself, so no personal wallet is needed.
- Polymarket traders see a big October price move as possible but not likely.
Standard Chartered has started letting wealthy clients in the United Arab Emirates trade bitcoin and ether directly through the bank. Instead of sending customers to an outside crypto platform, the bank keeps and settles the coins on its own systems. On Polymarket, traders don't expect a dramatic move in bitcoin's price this month.
Standard Chartered, a large international bank, opened direct bitcoin and ether trading to affluent clients in the UAE, CoinDesk reported. The service works as a closed loop: the bank itself holds the coins and completes the trades. That means clients can own crypto without setting up or managing their own crypto wallet.
When a major bank handles crypto the same way it handles other investments, it removes a step that puts many people off, which is managing a wallet and private keys. It is another sign of traditional finance moving closer to crypto. On Polymarket, traders still see a big jump in bitcoin's price this month as possible but not likely, and a sharp crash as very unlikely.
